Upload14 Jun 2026British troops breach gothic line. It was announced on September 2 nd that as a result of the swift and secret advance of British troops of the 8 th Army launched of August 26 th , the Gothic Line had been breached in the Adriatic sector of the Italian front to a depth of several miles. The defences of the line, last enemy prepared position south of the river Po , had not been competed when the Germans were forced to withdraw. Heavy fighting continues, but the breach is being enlarged each day. Picture shows a demolished bridge in the Fano area below Pesaro .
