ALG A-1 Saint-Pierre-du-Mont

One of the first USAAF Advanced Landing Grounds constructed in France, operational within days of the D-Day landings. Built by IX Engineer Command on farmland near Vierville-sur-Mer, just inland from Omaha Beach. Hosted P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bomber units providing close air support during the breakout from the Normandy beachhead.
