USAAF Advanced Landing Ground near Carentan-les-Marais, built after the hard-fought capture of Carentan on 12 June 1944 by paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division. Located in the marshlands between the Omaha and Utah beach sectors, the airfield supported the link-up and consolidation of the Allied beachhead.
