ALG A-24 Châteaudun

Eure-et-Loir, FR

USAAF Advanced Landing Ground at Châteaudun, Eure-et-Loir, established during the rapid pursuit across France in August 1944. Located over 250 km south of Omaha Beach, this ALG illustrates how quickly the Allied front moved after Operation Cobra. Châteaudun's pre-war airfield infrastructure was used; the site is today Châteaudun Air Base (BA 279), still used by the French Air Force.
