A reinforced German coastal battery on the Cotentin Peninsula armed with four **105mm guns**, positioned to defend the Utah Beach sector. Captured by the American **22nd Infantry Regiment** on June 9, 1944, after two days of fighting through the interconnecting tunnel system beneath the casemates. The entire battery — four artillery casemates and an observation post — is preserved and accessible.
