Chełmno (Kulmhof) Memorial Museum

Greater Poland, PL

The first Nazi German extermination site to use gas — sealed vans filled with carbon monoxide — beginning operations in December 1941. Approximately 150,000–340,000 people, primarily Jews from the Łódź Ghetto, were murdered here. An often-overlooked but historically crucial site; a small museum and memorial mark two separate camp sites.
