Heinkel Factory Oranienburg

The Heinkel Flugzeugwerke plant north of Berlin that produced **He 111** bombers and pioneered jet aviation by flying the world's first jet-powered aircraft, the **He 178**, on August 27, 1939. The factory used forced labor from the adjacent **Sachsenhausen** concentration camp and was attacked by USAAF B-17s in March 1944 during raids targeting the Berlin aircraft industry.
