Bunker / Fortification
Hillman Fortress
Colleville-Montgomery, FR
A massive German defensive strongpoint covering approximately 5 hectares, housing the headquarters of the **736th Grenadier Regiment** with concrete shelters, gun positions, and an extensive tunnel network. On D-Day, British forces of **No. 1 Special Service Brigade** and the **Suffolk Regiment** spent most of the afternoon reducing the fortress before it finally fell in the evening. The site is now an accessible memorial with preserved bunkers.
