Jonkerbos War Cemetery

Contains 1,639 Commonwealth soldiers killed in the Nijmegen area during **Operation Market Garden** in September 1944 and the subsequent fighting through the winter of 1944–45. Many of those buried here belonged to the **Guards Armoured Division** and the **82nd Airborne Division**, who fought for control of the Nijmegen road bridge over the Waal — the last obstacle before Arnhem.
