Kołobrzeg Battlefield
West Pomerania, PL
The Battle of Kołobrzeg (March 1945) was one of the most intense urban battles of the Eastern Front in Poland. The Polish 1st Army fought street-by-street through the fortified Baltic port, losing over 1,200 soldiers. On 18 March 1945 the symbolic "Wedding to the Sea" ceremony was held on the beach, marking Poland's return to the Baltic coast.
