La Gleize, BE

The furthest point of advance reached by **Kampfgruppe Peiper** — the SS 1st Panzer Division spearhead — during the Ardennes Offensive. Cut off from fuel and reinforcements, Peiper's column held the village from December 21–24, 1944, before abandoning 67 tanks and vehicles and retreating on foot. A preserved **King Tiger tank** from the battle stands in the village square.
