The primary glider landing zones used by the **1st Airborne Division** west of Arnhem during Operation Market Garden, September 1944. Three successive lifts on September 17, 18, and 19 brought in the division's main body and supporting arms. The requirement to hold the exposed landing zones during multiple days of fighting diverted valuable infantry away from the push to Arnhem bridge.
