North Africa American Cemetery

Carthage, TN

The only American military cemetery in Africa, containing 2,841 soldiers who died during **Operation Torch** and the Tunisia Campaign of 1942–43. Located on the ancient site of Carthage overlooking the Mediterranean, the cemetery also contains a Wall of the Missing with 3,724 names. The Tunisia Campaign ended with the surrender of approximately 250,000 Axis troops — the largest single Allied capture of the war to that point.
