Polish Post Office Memorial Gdańsk

On 1 September 1939, 57 Polish postal workers and civilians defended the Gdańsk Post Office against SS and police units for 15 hours. All captured defenders were court-martialled and executed. The building, preserved as a memorial, stands as a symbol of civilian resistance on the first day of the war.
