A First World War airfield in Cambridgeshire that served as a key fighter base during the **Battle of Britain**, home to the controversial **"Big Wing"** tactics of Air Vice Marshal Leigh-Mallory. Later used by the US **8th Air Force** for P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang operations. Today it houses the **Imperial War Museum's** aviation collection, including the American Air Museum.
