Reichswald Forest War Cemetery

The largest Commonwealth war cemetery in Germany, containing 7,654 soldiers — among them many Canadians who fell during **Operation Veritable** in February–March 1945, the grinding advance through the Rhineland forest toward the Rhine. The Reichswald battles were among the most difficult of the northwestern Europe campaign, fought in flooded terrain and dense forest against the **Parachute Army** of General Schlemm.
