Sobibor Extermination Camp Memorial

Nazi German extermination camp operating May 1942 – October 1943, where approximately 170,000–250,000 Jews were murdered. Site of the largest successful prisoner revolt in a Nazi death camp (14 October 1943), when around 300 prisoners escaped. The camp was immediately demolished. Ongoing archaeological excavations have uncovered gas chamber foundations.
