Stalag VII-A

Moosburg, DE

The largest German prisoner-of-war camp of World War II, holding approximately 76,000 Allied prisoners near Moosburg in Bavaria. Liberated by the American **14th Armored Division** on April 29, 1945, in a battle witnessed by General Patton — whose son-in-law was among the prisoners. The liberation ceremony included the raising of the American flag over the camp in the presence of thousands of freed prisoners.
