Warsaw Uprising Monument

Masovia, PL

Unveiled in 1989 on Krasińskich Square, the monument depicts insurgents charging from a sewer manhole and a second group descending. Sculpted by Wincenty Kućma, it stands opposite the Warsaw Rising Museum and commemorates the 63-day uprising of August–October 1944 in which 200,000 civilians died.
