Fortification
Westwall Dragon Teeth
Prüm, DE
The **Siegfried Line** (Westwall) — a 630 km chain of fortifications along Germany's western border built from 1936–38 — is most visible today in its characteristic pyramidal concrete anti-tank obstacles known as **dragon's teeth**. American forces first breached the line in September 1944 after fierce fighting, but the German Ardennes Offensive temporarily restored sections of it. Thousands of dragon's teeth survive along the German-Belgian border.
