Y-29 Airfield

As, BE

Advanced Landing Ground Y-29 at Asch in Belgian Limburg, used by American P-47 and P-51 units of the **9th Air Force** from late 1944. During the Battle of the Bulge it was one of the few Allied airfields able to operate in the severe winter weather. On January 1, 1945, Y-29 was targeted during **Operation Bodenplatte** — the Luftwaffe's last mass assault on Allied airfields — in which Me 262 jets attacked the base.
